Frequently Asked Questions for 3 on 3 Basketball Hoop Showdown

Question: What do I need to do with Waiver Form?
Answer: All Players must sign the waiver form. If the player is less than 18 years of age, then the parent or legal guardian must sign. The signed Waiver form must be handed in at the Event Registration table.

Question: What is the return policy?
Answer: Entry fees are non-refundable. This includes, but is not limited to, cancellations arising from inclement weather, personal scheduling conflicts and inability to make a tournament. In case of inclement weather, the Event Director reserves the right to reduce the number of scheduled games and/or the time of games. The Event staff reserves the right to cancel an age division in the event of insufficient registration. If your age division is cancelled due to insufficient registration than entry fees in the affected division will be fully refunded.

Question: What are the age divisions?
Answer: For the 2010 3 on 3 Hoop Showdown: All ages are based on your age December 31, 2009.

The age divisions are as follows:
(a) Adult
1) Male Adult Open Over 6'
2) Male Adult Open Under 6

Youth: Male
1) 18U Male Youth
2) 16U Male Youth
3) 14U Male Youth
4) 12U Male Youth

Question: Youth divisions:
Answer: Please note that our divisions are by age, players should register for the division labeled with their current age. All players must match the appropriate age, and no player may be older than the age listed for that division or the entire team will be moved up to the next age division.

Question: How Do I Register?
Answer: Simply click on the "Register Now" button and follow the steps to register online. Full payment must be received in order for your entire registration process to be complete. Entry forms are accepted online.

Question: What is the deadline to register?
Answer: The deadline to register for the event is the Sunday before the event at 11:00 p.m. (EST.) If total team capacity is reached, event will close to new registrants. Once the deadline has passed it is very difficult to add additional teams as the scheduling process will have started. If you have missed the deadline and still wish to register, requests will be evaluated to ensure that adding a late team does not cause a negative impact on those teams that registered on time.

Question: How many players can I have on the roster?
Answer: You must have 3 players on your team, but no more than 5 players (the 4th and 5th players are substitutes). Entry fee is the same regardless of number of players on team! A coach does not count as a player and will not receive any player gifts (t-shirt, etc.).

Question: Do we have to wear a Jersey?
Answer: No, you do not need to wear jerseys with player numbers, however it is very helpful if possible. Your team should plan on wearing the same color of shirt/jersey and to bring a back-up set of a different color since two opposing teams can't wear the same color in a game. If necessary, coin toss will decide.

Question: Can I change my roster after I am registered?
Answer: Yes you can adjust your roster until the start of your first game, as long as the replacement is of the same playing level. Roster changes must be done either at the Event Staff check-in or at the headquarters tent before your first game. Roster changes can not be made online. All new players must fill out a player change form prior to their first game; otherwise, the team will forfeit games played with the non-registered player prior to the form being completed. Roster change forms are available on the web-site or are available at the Event Staff headquarters tent during Pre-event check-in.

Question: When do we get our schedule?
Answer: Schedules for your team will be available Thursday evening at the Registration/Sign In. They will be posted here on the website after 10:00 pm Thursday evening.

Question: What do we get when we win?
Answer: 1st and 2nd players in EACH DIVISION receive trophies and additional prizes to be announced!

Question: Can we change our team name?
Answer: We can't guarantee that your team name change will be reflected in the brackets, so it's important that you give us your correct team name to begin with. If you want to change it, however, we will do our best to make sure it's in the brackets.

Question: Can I play on more than one team?
Answer: Yes, as long as they are not in the same division. In addition, we will NOT be responsible for scheduling conflicts.

Question: What is the "no parking zone"?
Answer: The "no parking zone" is a 10 ft. by 10 ft. area starting on the baseline (5 ft. on each side of hoop). An offensive player can not remain stationary in this box AND receive the ball in this area when being guarded by an opposing player. You can cut through the area while being guarded and receive the ball, but you must be on the move. You can receive the ball in this area if you are stationary and are NOT being guarded. This rule is solely at the discretion of the referee or court monitor on your court. A foot on the line of the "no parking zone" counts as being in the zone.

Question: What is the Weather Policy?
Answer: **Show up for your first game as scheduled!** The Event Director will make the call on site if conditions warrant postponing games until weather lets up - AND - will post any delays to the website. **Show up for your first game as scheduled!** Play will continue through inclement weather as much as possible - if it's necessary to stop play, it will be postponed in 30 min. increments until conditions are suitable to resume play. It's very important that all teams remain close to the event site so that games may resume in a timely manner once the weather has improved enough to resume play!

Question: What do I need to bring to the Event?
Answer: You will not be required to produce Proof of age for each player at registration, however you will need to produce proof of age during the event in the case of an age discrepancy. Bring a document with each player's name and birthdates on it (driver's license, birth certificate photocopy, passport, etc.) - if your document doesn't have a picture (birth certificate), it is helpful to have a picture ID as well to compare it to (school ID, etc.).

Question: Can I bring my own cooler?
Answer: Players are allowed to bring coolers on-site for wet rags only.

Question: Can I bring my own tent?
Answer: You can bring your own shade tent as long as it measures 10' x 10' or less and does not feature any offensive graphics. We recommend that you bring chairs for relaxation as there are limited benches. All tents and personal belongings must be removed at the end of play each day. The Event Staff and event location are not responsible for any loss or theft that may occur.

Question: Do the younger kids play on a lower hoop?
Answer: No. All teams play on 10 foot hoops.
